The building crew is back. The area for the pad was flooded with 3000 gallons of water and then compacted with gravel. The whole pad has 2 inches of insulation on the outside and 8 inches of insulation on the inside of the pad. Overseas, typical insulation is 18 inches between the concrete pad and the ground. Doorways and garage entrances have a thermal break as concrete is a good conductor of cold in and heat out of the house.

The red tube is radiant heat in the slabs. The home will have 4 heating zones.
Saturday? The big pour? More pictures Sunday. Framing to begin as early as Tuesday.
